The Forbidden Years of the Fruit Tree
28 April 2020
Acharei-Kedoshim
The Rebbe taught this discourse in 1968 for Sedra Kedoshim. It gives a fascinating interpretation of the law of 'Orlah', in which the fruit of a tree is forbidden for the first three years, then in the fourth year it can only be eaten if it is redeemed (or taken to Jerusalem, in Temple times), and in the fifth year it is permitted and also brings great reward for the person. These stages apply in various aspects of daily life.
