Alef Kaballah

Divine 'Sleep'

19 February 2019
Ki Tisa
Purim Minor Purim

This discourse was taught by the Rebbe on the Shabbat after Purim in 1965. The Megilah states (ch.6) ‘On that night, the sleep of the King was disturbed’. The discourse understands the King as the Divine King, and discusses the nature of wakefulness and sleep, both for the individual and also, metaphorically, in the case of the Divine. The goal is, in the deepest darkness and sleep, to reach the Divine Essence beyond, through which tears are transformed to joy.
